VISITING THE BIENNALE
The fourth edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale runs from 12 December, 2018 – 29 March, 2019.
All venues are open every day from 10 AM – 6 PM. Free public tours are conducted at 11AM and 3PM every day at Aspinwall House.
Tickets are available for purchase at Aspinwall House, and online, with universal free entry every Monday. More ticket options, including student concessions, are available at Aspinwall House.
- General Admission allow three entries (on the same day) to Aspinwall House and one entry to all other venues
- Reserved Guided Walk allows visitors to book a private guided tour of the exhibition with a trained art mediator
- Donor Passes are a great way of supporting the Biennale, and the many educational and outreach initiatives of the Foundation, unlimited entry to the Biennale through its closing on March 29, 2019
GETTING TO KOCHI
Kochi-Muziris Biennale is centred in spaces around Fort Kochi and Mattancherry.
Kochi is directly connected to all major cities in India and the Middle East, as well as to many cities in Southeast Asia by flight.
Fort Kochi is 45 km from Kochi International Airport, Nedumbassery. On average, the journey is around 1.5 hours. Bus and taxi services are available from the airport to Fort Kochi. The bus schedule is available here.
Kochi (Ernakulam) is connected by rail to all parts of India. Almost all trains traveling through Kerala stop at Ernakulam stations. There are two main railway stations in the city: Ernakulam Junction (or Ernakulam South) and Ernakulam Town (or Ernakulam North).
Fort Kochi is 13 km from Ernakulam Junction (South) Station and 16 km from Ernakulam Town (North) Station.
There are cruise ships running from Goa, Bombay, Lakshadweep, and Colombo. Almost all passenger ships dock at Willingdon Island.
Fort Kochi and Mattancherry are connected to mainland Ernakulam, Willingdon Island, and Vypin Island by boat. The ferry service runs from early morning to late evening. Fort Kochi is 20 mins from the Ernakulam Boat Jetty and 10 mins from both Willingdon Island and Vypin Boat Jetty.
Kochi is connected by State Highways and National Highways to places within Kerala as well as outside. Both State-operated and private bus services are available to cities in Kerala, and to some cities oustide the State.
Fort Kochi is 15 km from the main bus station in Ernakulam.
GETTING AROUND KOCHI
Many of the locations of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale are walking distances from each other (most are around 10 minutes or so).
Bicycles are available on rent and are a good way to explore the lanes of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry.
Local buses are frequent and connect to all parts of the city.
Auto-rickshaws are available for travel around Fort Kochi & Mattancherry and Ernakulam. Most main junctions have designated Auto stands, but they can also be hailed on any road.
There are numerous taxi services available for traveling in and around Kochi, including services like Uber and Ola.
